Autumn Term 1

A new support programme for each week of the autumn term for Year 2. A set of worksheets for each day, Monday to Friday plus extra on-screen activities where appropriate. Because these are mainly made up of 3 or 4 pages they are ideal for an adult to go through the first page with the child before the child then tries a different page on their own. The topics are all matched to the current Maths Programme of Study as set out by the Government. We have tried hard to organise the topics in a similar way to most schools, but as each school has their own approach we cannot guarantee they match any particular school’s programme. Please note: our old weekly programme can still be found at the bottom of the page.

Week 1

We start the term with some revision of counting in ones plus counting on and back in tens.

Week 2

Understanding place value is crucial to success and we have pages including abacus, part-whole models and bar models to help with this.

Week 3

This week we look at comparing and ordering 2-digit numbers, including ordinal numbers.

Week 4

Counting on and back in steps of equal size is the topic for this week. Don't forget to have a go at our on-screen activity, 'Reading place value grids'.

Week 5

Time to take a step back and revise addition skills learned in Year 1.

Week 6

Bar models can be a great way to help revise and develop mental subtraction skills.

Old Weekly Programme Weeks 1-6

Whilst we really like our brand new Weekly Programme many of our users still find our old programme an invaluable resource. Below are the first six weeks of the old Autumn Term Weekly Programme.
