What numbers do digits represent? It all depends on their place.
Number lines with numbers only at each end make it tricky to say where the arrows are placed. Some degree of error has to expected with this task!
Use a number line to count on and back across zero.
Fill in the missing numbers in the sequences. Firstly, the pattern of the sequence has to be worked out.
It is important to be able to say decimal numbers correctly and recognise the value of digits.
Knowing pairs of numbers that make 10 and being able to count in tens make these questions much quicker to answer.
Work out the addition questions in your head and just write down the answers.
Adding and subtracting numbers that cross the thousands boundary: often ?counting on? is the best method.
Use the numbers in the octagon to create and answer subtraction questions using multiples of 10 and decimals.
More work on doubling and halving, including larger numbers and fractions.
When multiplying 2-digit numbers by 1-digit in your head usually it is easier to start with the tens.
A whole number which only has factors of 1 and itself is known as a prime number.
