Count the value of the coins in each purse.
Match a set of objects to a number. Count the fruit in the circle and draw a line to the correct number. This involves both counting and recognising numbers. At this early stage all numbers are kept to 5 or below.
We are on the stairs and counting down as we go down each step. (Take care!) There is no number line to help for this set of pages which keeps to small numbers up to six. A similar practical activity can be done outside if you have a pavement or driveway. Mark out some rectangles and number them from 0 to 5. Jump forwards or backwards, calling out the number as you go!
Finding the number half way between two other numbers is not always easy. There are number lines to help with this as well as counting on in ones, tens and hundreds.
When we are multiplying by a number ending in 5 we can double the number and halve the other number before multiplying (by a multiple of ten, making it easy).
