You may have seen tables' grids: these are addition grids and work in just the same way, adding rather than multiplying.
A great way to show how multiplication works is by using arrays. 3 rows of 4 means 3 lots of 4. This means 4 x 3 or 3 x 4.
Multiplying whole tens by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10. Excellent for putting knowledge of tables into practice.
You can get a multiple of a whole number by multiplying it by another whole number. A factor of a number will divide into the number exactly, without a remainder.
