Today we will look at the written method of subtraction.

A great way to practice the 2x, 5x and 10x tables is with 2p, 5p and 10p coins.
Here we have another in our series on multiplication and tables. This time we are looking at the ten times table. This is often thought of as the easiest table as the digits don't change, but don't get caught in the trap of telling your child that you 'just add a naught' to multiply by ten.

A different way at looking at tables - division tables rather than multiplication!
A great way to show how multiplication works is by using arrays. 3 rows of 4 means 3 lots of 4. This means 4 x 3 or 3 x 4.
Remember that division is the inverse of multiplication, so dividing by 10 and 100 is just as easy as multiplying.
All tables can be practised on the tables squares.
It's a good idea to time how long it takes to complete each square and look for improvement as tables are learned.
