KS1 Maths SAT Practice: Arithmetic

Practice worksheets for KS1 Maths Arithmetic Paper including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.

The Key Stage 1 Mathematics test changed considerably in 2016 and now consists of two papers, an Arithmetic Paper and a Reasoning Paper. The questions which have come up on the Arithmetic Paper take a similar format each year and include:

Addition
•    addition missing number problems. Very simple addition sentences where the answer is given but another number is missing (e.g. 1 + ? = 5). There is usually at least one of these, keeping to numbers up to 10.
•    addition facts to 20 displayed as a straightforward sum (e.g. 5 + 6 = ?)
•    adding a single digit to a 2-digit number (e.g. 62 + 9 = ?)
•    adding a 2-digit number and whole tens (e.g. 35 + 20 = ?)
•    adding three 1-digit numbers (e.g. 3 + 4 + 5 = ?)
•    adding three multiples of 10 up to 100 (e.g. 20 + 30 + 40 = ?)
•    adding two 2-digit numbers (e.g. 23 + 45 = ?)
•    adding a 2-digit number and a teen (e.g. 34 + 16 = ?)
•    more addition missing number problems using larger numbers which are often multiples of 10 (e.g. 10 + ? = 40)

Subtraction
•    simple subtraction missing number problems. Very simple subtraction sentences where the answer is given but another number is missing (e.g. 6 - ? = 2)
•    subtraction facts to 20 (e.g. 18 – 6 = ?)
•    subtracting a 1-digit number from a 2-digit number (e.g. 23 – 5 = ?)
•    subtracting a teen from a 2-digit number (e.g. 44 – 12 = ?)
•    subtracting two 1-digit numbers from a single digit (e.g. 9 – 3 – 2 = ?)
•    subtracting two 2-digit numbers (e.g. 48 – 23 = ?)
•    more subtraction missing number problems using larger numbers, usually 1-digit from 2-digits (e.g. 34 - ? = 29)

Multiplication
•    knowing multiplication facts for the 2x, 5x and 10x tables (e.g. 4 x 5 = ?)
•    knowing multiplication facts for the 3x and 4x tables (e.g. 3 x 4 = ?)

Division and fractions
•    knowing division facts derived from the 2x, 5x and 10x tables (e.g. 20 ÷5 = ?)
•    finding simple fractions of quantities (e.g. a quarter of 12 = ?)

We have sets of pages for each of these types of question all written using a similar layout to the SAT Papers themselves.
