Writing numbers in words

Posted on by Peter

In year 1 children most children will have been writing single digit numbers in words. As they come across  larger numbers more idiosyncrasies creep into our spelling, making them trickier. Rules do not appear to follow. For example: fourteen is spelt with a ‘u’ but forty is not. I don’t know why, but it does not help children!!

These pages give a little practice at reading and writing larger numbers in words.
